NIS is based on the principle that our brain maintains all of our neuro-physiology. This means that without stress, the signals between our brain and body allow us to function with optimal health. If we do experience a stress (physical, hormonal, emotional, neurological, or pathological), these signals can become overloaded and this is when we start to see symptoms of illness or pain (our bodies are capable of exhibiting over 600,000 different symptoms).
Over the past 3 weeks, my colleague has treated me. When I have emotional stress in my life, my jaw becomes extremely painful and clicks loudly (I think I clench my jaw while I sleep). We have found that the emotional cortices of my brain are involved when stressed against various bones in my face. My head feels clearer, I have been sleeping more deeply and most importantly, my face is much less sore (and the noise is much less irritating to anyone who ever has to sit next to me while I eat).
